Consumer Protection / Consumer Fraud

Consumer Protection (DTPA) / Consumer Fraud

On a daily basis, consumers fall victim to unscrupulous business practices.  Many people never fight back because they don’t know their legal rights or they cannot afford legal representation to protect their rights.

There are Texas Statutes that provide remedies for consumers in situations where they have been taken advantage of or treated unfairly.

At The Law Office of Robert D. Dabaghian, we have significant experience with the areas of Consumer Protection, Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices, Lemon Law Vehicle Litigation, Warranty Claims, Defective Products, and The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

If you have purchased a defective product or believe that a service provider is not honoring the terms of the agreement, please call consumer law attorney Robert D. Dabaghian at (210) 366-2400 to discuss your claim.

At The Law Office of Robert D. Dabaghian, we will protect consumers against deceptive trade practices.  Texas Consumer Statutes regulate the way businesses can advertise, market and sell their products and services to consumers.  Generally, these laws broadly prohibit deception in dealing with consumers.  Deceptive acts include, but are not limited to, misrepresentations involving product performance or capability; bait and switch schemes (where one product or service is offered but another is actually offered); false advertisements; and the use of form contracts and fine print to mislead consumers.

The DTPA is an important consumer protection law that is in place to protect people just like you.  Anytime you purchase or even seek to purchase goods or services, you are a consumer.  The DTPA specifically provides that businesses which engage in false or misleading acts must not only reimburse the consumer for economic damages, but must also reimburse the consumer’s reasonable and necessary attorney’s fees.  Additional statutory and punitive damages may also apply if a consumer can show that the act or misrepresentation was done intentionally and/or done knowingly.

If you feel that you have been misled or victimized by a deceptive or dishonest practice, call The Law Office of Robert D. Dabaghian at (210) 366-2400 to discuss your rights under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
